It is with great pride that Observa China 观中国 presents to the public the Third Edition of the Sinóptica 提纲 Magazine, a semiannual publication that brings the Observa China 观中国 community closer to current and relevant topics about China.
In this event, we will talk about this special edition commemorating the 5th anniversary of Observa China 观中国, dedicated to fostering debate on China’s relationship with the Portuguese-speaking world. This edition features diverse themes, demonstrating the breadth of topics addressed by the organization and its reach across different fields of study.

Celebration of the 5th Anniversary of Observa China 观中国

**MISSION**

The relationship between Brazil and China is marked by an economic and strategic partnership that has developed significantly in recent decades. Despite cultural and political differences, the pragmatic relationship between these two rising powers has played an important role on the international stage.

There is, however, a gap in understanding about China that leads even the most credible media outlets to fall into stereotypes and simplifications of a culture that relies heavily on context-based assessments. In an increasingly interconnected world, journalism plays an indispensable role in building bridges of information and understanding in Sino-Brazilian relations. Brazilian journalists play a crucial role when reporting on China, contributing to the understanding and contextualisation of the dynamics between the two countries from a unique perspective.

Therefore, we invited experts to teach workshops on topics relevant to the coverage of Sino-Brazilian relations.

The moderation will be carried out by Aline Tedeschi (Hunan Normal University and Observa China 观中国).

As the 2024 season of events of the Observa China 观中国 Workgroup for China-Brazil Relations and Lusophony comes to an end, we have the honour of organising a Panel of excellence and hosting four prominent speakers, with extensive experience when it comes to the Sino-Brazilian relationship: Carlos Renato Ungaretti (IPEA and Observa China 观中国), José Roberto de Andrade Filho (Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Maria Elena Rodriguez (IRI/PUC-Rio and BRICS Policy Center), and Mayara Araujo (UFF). Pedro Steenhagen (Fudan University 复旦大学 and Observa China 观中国) will be responsible for the moderation.

This is an event not to be missed and is open to all interested people, whether they are professionals, academics or not, already part of the world related to China, or students and people in general who wish to deepen their knowledge of the topics covered. The moderator will be Pedro Steenhagen (Fudan University and Observa China 观中国).
